Kenneth Emig’s exhibition, Continuum, explores the nature of space as it relates to the human body and its senses. Through the integration of light and reflection, his sculptures alter our environment to heighten awareness of our surroundings.
Emig approaches sculpture from the perspective of a dancer, conscious of how we co-exist with the work in three-dimensional space. His aesthetic inquiries find intersections between and across various media that focus on the body, space, perception and movement. “We often look at the world around us but don’t consciously see it,” says Emig. “I hope that the visitors to the exhibition will carry a renewed curiosity from the gallery into everyday life.”
Continuum reminds us that perception is a matter of degrees, in which objects and ideas do not have finite beginnings, boundaries or ends.
