GLOBAL PROSPERITY
Scott Duncan

From October 21th to November 22nd 2009
Opening Wednesday October 21st, 6 - 9 pm

Scott Duncan is primarily interested in the visual impacts of economic activity on the landscape and on society. In Global Prosperity he focuses on commercial ports where goods are in transit. More than passageways between two points, these hundred- and even thousand-hectare wide factories are genuine economic exchange infrastructures. Using long and slow tracking shots to illustrate the gigantic architecture of these constantly evolving constructions, Duncan questions their place as sites of ramification, exchange, movement and consumption by presenting them as new landscapes.

Sophie Castonguay and Mathieu Marcoux have been invited to do work based on Scott Duncan's soundtrack Global Prosperity to create a performance on the notion of listening. In N'entendez-vous pas? they integrate reading to music to invest the spectator's space.
