KAPOW A SuperHero Convention

This summer, a series of out-of-control events are disturbing the Jeux du Québec in Gatineau. A group of superheroes tries to save the day after a terrible conceptual explosion: KAPOW !

The event features local, national and international artists in a series of public performances. Through KAPOW, A Superheroes' Convention, the curators Mélissa Charest, Thomas Grondin and Eric Ladouceur are questioning the figure of the superhero in contemporary art.

The superman endowed with various and unlimited powers makes us dream. He projects the image of an exceptional being, and reflects onto us the necessity of a better self, both magnified and fantasized. The superhero encourages the splitting, the metamorphosis, and forces us to contemplate the possibilities of another self.

This theme therefore pushes the performers to draw from notions such as identity, pushing the limits of the self, sexuality, violence, presence, difference, freedom, and exchange, in a universe peculiar to pop culture.

Beware ! You could witness some super interventions ! KAPOW !
